Beverley  

The Wheatbelt town of Beverley is 130 Kilometres east of Perth on the Avon River. Founded in 1838, Beverley is one of Western Australia’s oldest settlements. Today Beverley is a quiet agricultural town with a proud history. For visitors it is a chance to experience life in a classic country town. Stroll down the main street and admire the variety of architectural styles such as Art Deco (Town Hall, Hotel Beverley & Infant Health Centre), Free Federation (Court House & Union Bank building), Federation Georgian (Police Cottages), and the Railway Station built in the Victorian Tudor style which is now an art gallery.
After a walk down the main street you can find out about the history of aviation in Western Australia at the Aeronautical Museum.  Visit the Dead Finish Motel and learn about early settlement.  This is home to the Beverley Historical Society and was once a hotel built between 1872 and 1876. The building has pit-sawn floors with handmade nails and a shingle roof. The museum is open on Sundays March to November or by appointment.
Admire the antique and vintage machinery at Ferguson’s Machinery Shed before picnicking on of the Avon River. Water sport enthusiasts can kayak on the Avon River in winter or trace the headwaters to the nearby Yenyenning salt lakes and experience boating and water skiing on an inland lake - bring your own gear!
Beverley is also the motocross hub of the Avon Valley, be a spectator or experience the thrill of the track yourself! Beverley Soaring Society gives you the perfect opportunity to stretch your wings and experience silent flight 3000 feet above the ground. Go gliding and witness perfect views of the Avon Valley while sharing the skies with local wedge-tailed eagles. Avondale Discovery Farm is one of Western Australia’s unique attractions and the pride of agri-tourism in the Avon Valley. Established in the 1850s, the visitor can participate in a wide range of activities. Avondale is a working farm and is a good example of sustainable agriculture in action.
The Agricultural Museum is the perfect place to learn about all that goes on at Avondale! Avondale is a great place to have fun. There is a constantly changing collection of people-friendly animals in the animal nursery including Avondale’s very own famous Clydesdale horses! There are picnic facilities, free gas barbecues, toilets and an adventure playground available all year round for public use making this a great family outing.
Throughout the year Avondale hosts a variety of special events, including the Annual Avondale Harvest Festival in November and the Avondale Clydesdale and Vintage Ploughing Day early in winter.
